The chair of the Halton District School Board wants to put the Ontario government on notice that funding cuts to special education will adversely affect students in need of that instruction and care. Kelly Amos, an Oakville trustee and chair of the board of trustees, was to bring a motion to the Wednesday (June 1) board meeting asking the other 10 elected trustees to support starting an awareness campaign to develop a plan to get word to parents and the rest of the public about what the board says is Kelly Amos a multi-million dollar reduction in special education funding. Amos' report, presented at the May 18 school board meeting, states in 2014-15 changes were introduced to see Funding on p.7 The annual Lions Foundation of Canada Purina Walk for Dog Guides, a dog-friendly, 5-km fundraising walk through downtown Oakville and along the lakefront, attracted dozens of walkers, many with their canine companions Sunday (May 29). With temperatures soaring to the mid-20s C by mid-morning alone, a puppy pool was a welcome relief for many canines, including Indigo, a two-year-old breeder dog for Dog Guides, who cooled off as his handler, Martha Barclay, splashed him down with cool water.
