Q: League championships to ... ... the Oakville Rangers double-A peewee rep team The O akville Rangers peewee double-A rep team was disappointed not to advance to the O M H A championship series after a tough series against Caledon. But they earned some consolation by subsequently winning their best o f five TriCounty league championship series 3-1 over Burlington. O akville wrapped up the series with a 3-2 overtime win. Andrew Antidormi was the overtime hero, scoring with only two minutes left in the overtime frame. Craig Speers potted the two regulation time goals. Assists went to Jonathon Fairclough (2 ) and Mathew Bum s. Coach Roy Gringmuth was especially proud of his team in light o f the fact that they were playing with a short bench including captain Shane Jackm an who was out with an injury. The team's tournament win in Barrie two weeks ago and the recent Tri-County league series win ends the season on a very high note for the O akville players. The players would like to thank their coaches, trainer, team business manager and spon sors for supporting them in a very successful 1999-2000 season. A: C o m e To This O p e n H o u s e The G reater Toronto Services Board (GTSB) has recently released a Transportation Plan for the G reater Toronto Area & Hamilton-Wentworth suggesting im provem ents to our road and transit systems for the next tw enty years. Learn ab ou t this Plan and h ave your say on how transportation systems should b e planned and built in the GTA, Halton Region, an d your local community. ... the Oakville Rangers triple-A atom rep team The O akville Rangers atom triple-A rep team were disappointed not to make the Ontario M inor Hockey Association (O M H A ) championships for the first time in four years. But they didn't spend much time crying over spilt milk. Instead, they went out and won their league championship. It was nip and tuck to get into the league championship as they got the nod, on a tiebreaker, after a three-way tie that involved Brampton and Halton Hills. But O akville made the most of their good fortune and went on to sweep St. Catharines in the best of three affair. O akville wrapped up the championship with a close 3-2 win over St. Catharines in the second game. Down 1-0, O akville rattled off three straight goals and then held on for the win. Brandon DeFazio had the first two goals and Daniel Ruffo scored the eventual win ner. Anthony Gomes and Jason Bergeron each had a pair of assists (on both DeFazio's goals) and Michael Morrison had a single helper. O akville's Chris W ills had a great game, in particular a series o f three huge saves when his team was nursing a close 21 lead. In the opener, O akville watched a 3-1 lead evaporate but then pulled away again to win 8-4, the last goal going into an empty net. Down 3-1, St. Catharines had rattled off two goals in 45 seconds to tie the game at 3-3. But in what was surely a turning point, O akville responded with two goals in eight seconds to take the lead for good. Goals were scored by Paul Mooney (2), Scott Hamel (2), Ryan Gamble, Brandon DeFazio, Jason Bergeron and Taylor Farris. Assists went to Stefan Legein (2), Anthony Gomes (2), Kris Bonnell, call-up Andrew Amodeo, Jason Bergeron, Daniel Ruffo, Brandon DeFazio, Ryan Gamble and call-up Jam ie Beaver. 6:30 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2000 Quality Inn, Oakville, Bronte Rd south of QEW · Staff Presentation at 7:00 pm (Courtesy shuttle bus leaving Burlington Go Station at 6:00pm and Appleby Go Station at 6:15pm-- call Burlington Transit at 639-0550 for further details.) 6:30 pm, Thursday, April 20, 2000 Halton Hills Civic Centre, Georgetown · Staff Presentation a t 7:00 pm GTSB, Regional an d M unicipal staff will be present to explain the GTA Transportation Plan, answer your questions and receive your input.
