Passed away peacefully and with dignity surrounded by his devoted family. Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Valerie (nee Pitman), his devoted daughter Michele Sgro (the late Tony Sgro) of Oakville and his caring son Wayne (Maria) Bricknell of Guelph. He was the proud grandpa of Tyler, Spencer, Douglas and Julia. He will be greatly missed by his loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Maureen Pitman, as well as his nieces, nephew and their families. Douglas was honoured to have many special friends throughout his entire life among those were his faithful canine companions. Douglas spent his career in the insurance industry and was the founder of Oakville Insurance Brokers. He was a long time member of the Rotary Club of Oakville. `Douger' will be remembered as an honourable, devoted family man and gentleman. Thomas and Gracia enjoyed many years in retirement, wintering in Florida before finally settling in Hamilton to be close to the family.
