Open House Feb. 16 for school board's Capital Plan The Halton District School Board has sched uled Open Houses for the public to review its proposed Capital Plan. Presented to trustees on Jan. 25, the plan is a long-term strategy addressing the accommo dation needs of students in elementary and sec ondary schools. The Board will hold public meetings in each municipality to seek public input and comments on the proposed Plan. The initial Oakville public meeting is on Thursday, Feb, 16 from 7-9 p.m. at Abbey Park High School (Studio Theatre), 1455 Glen Abbey Gate. After the meeting, the public will have the opportunity to give w ritten comments. Comments will be received until March 9. Once comments have been reviewed by Halton District School Board staff, an interim report will be prepared and presented to the trustees of Halton District School Board. A second public meeting will take place to present this interim report, any modifications to the proposed Capital Plan and seek further input. The second scheduled public meeting in Oakville is on April 25 from 7-9 p.m. at Oakville Trafalgar High School (Cafeteria), 1460 Devon Rd. After the second public meeting, the commu nity will again have the opportunity to give writ ten comments. Comments will be received until May 18. It is anticipated that a final report will be pre sented to the Board in June. Updates regarding the meeting schedules and process will be available on the Halton District School Board Web site at: www.hdsb.ca. Well, maybe you did, but for Oakville's Recreation and Culture Department, the anticipation of the Town's annual Santa Claus Parade is not too far away. Are you able to think cool winter thoughts all year long? If you are, the Recreation and Culture Department is looking for volunteers to assist the Town of Oakville Santa Claus Parade Committee. The committee is seeking one individual to sit on the committee to assist'with the co-ordination of its "parade" of volunteers. The regularly scheduled monthly meetings (approximately 90 minutes) begin in the spring, and then continue in the fall until the parade takes place on Nov. 18. In addition, the committee is also seeking volunteers to form a Sponsorship Sub-commit tee. Volunteers are needed to solicit corporate sponsorships for the annual parade. Experience in fundraising or sponsorship is an asset. These individuals will not sit on the Santa Claus Parade Committee, but rather the Sponsorship Sub-Committee and report to the Sponsorship Chair. The ideal candidates will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and love for all things Christmas.
