The annual event kicks off Fire Prevention Week, which will be October 9-15. Demonstrations of live fire and auto extrications, along with hands-on junior firefighter combat challenges and water squirt were all part of the activities. Clockwise, from top left, junior firefighter Rylan Mullen, 3, seems to be having as much fun dousing the fire at the hose squirt challenge as Humber College fire services student Gilbert Lee. Firefighters put water on a burn cell unit that was fully engulfed, the demonstration showed how household sprinklers can save lives. Aidan Rice, 3, brought his own fire helmet to the event. Ryan Rychel, 4, pulls a rope attached to a hose line at the Junior Firefighter Combat Challenge. | Graham Paine/Metroland Cooking for one is a lot of work.
