A # Dear Patient: Chiropractic care is like "orthodontics" for the spine. *** Clinically speaking, repeated chiropractic adjustments `train the vertebrae to maintain their proper alignment and movement. Just like the time required for braces to achieve correction depends on an individuals teeth and mouth structure, the time required for proper positioning to occur depends on the condition of the patients spine, their job, and other lifestyle activities. Think of spinal adjustments like maintaining your car. Its recommended that you change your cars oil every 3000 or so miles. For how long you ask?? For as long as you own the car!! While some individuals drive 3,000 miles in a week, others do so in a month or two. The point is, however, that we change our oil on a regular basis. The same goes for caring for your spine. Whether to get adjusted weekly or monthly depends upon each patients specific health condition. Remember, " An ounce of Prevention is worth a pound of cure!" Don' t let your car' s engine M out before changing its oil!! Perhaps the next time your neighbour visits his chiropractor you should go along for the ride!!! Yours truly, Dr. Eric Dawtrey m There is a wide range of investment opportunities beyond n stocks and bonds to help you diversify your portfolio. The solutions that are right for you will depend on your objectives and risk tolerance. Income trusts. These investments hold a pool of incomeproducing assets. These assets may range from businesses such as utilities, restaurants, and storage facilities, to real estate (Real Estate Investment Trusts) and reserves of natural resources such as oil and natural gas (royalty trusts). Income generated by the trust is flowed through to the unitholders. Depending on the type of income generated, certain tax benefits may also be flowed through to investors. Debentures. These debt securities are similar to bonds, except that they are not secured by any specific assets of the issuing company or government. ^ Convertible debentures can be exchanged or converted into the common shares of the issuing corporation. This gives investors both the income of a debt security and, if converted, the capital gains prospects of common shares. Exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Similar to mutual funds, these securities can provide exposure to a diversified basket of securities. However, they trade on an exchange, like individual stocks, instead of being sold and redeemed by the sponsoring fund company. Equity-linked notes. The return on these debt securities is linked to an equity index or basket of stocks. A minimum redemption value may also be guaranteed. A# In 1992, silicone gel implants were banned in Canada, the United States and France due to an unsubstantiated claim that a leaking silicone breast implant was the cause of an auto-immune disease in a young woman. There was nothing that supported this claim but nonetheless, saline-filled implants became the only alternative. In 2000, Doctor Khanna was granted release of a "cohesive silicone gel-filled implant", which became a ground-breaking event. A new generation implant that was denser and more like a "gummy bear" is now the implant of choice. This product alleviates the difficult task of having to remove a ruptured liquid silicone implant. The reality is that with the new generation implant, and the wide range of shapes, sizes and dimensions, a specially trained plastic surgeon is able to provide a custom fit. Other benefits include less risk of rupture, rippling, capsular contracture and no risk of deflation. Home the atres, bars, gyms and spas are just some of the ways people are utilizing their new found living space. Basements are no longer the cold un-inviting storage spaces they used to be. There are a number of procedures that can help. These procedures range from more invasive techniques to quite moderate ones and are determined by a few factors including the depth of scarring. As always, a consultation will help to determine the best treatment for your condition. Blu-U Photofacial Light Therapy is a treatment that is noninvasive as well as very effective with treating the acne as well as reducing the scarring. It also will improve the overall tone and even-out the colour of your skin creating a more youthful look. During this treatment, a cream called Levulan is placed on the skin for approximately 30 minutes up to 1 hour. This ALA cream is a photosensitizing lotion which is activated by the Blu-light. The Blu-light is directed orito the skin for approximately 8-10 minutes where the light is absorbed and it actually kills the acne causing bacteria. The procedure is well tolerated. Generally a client would require 4 treatments over a 6-10 week period. As a treatment, a reasonable price point would fall between $250 and $350 per session. The client should also avoid the sun for 2 days after the treatment as well as wear sunscreen daily during the course of treatment. No one should have this treatment without a medical assessment. Like any cosmetic therapy, you are in the best hands if you have been assessed by a skin expert, such as a dermatologist.
