Martin, January 1, 1924 in St. Ola, Ontario, the last surviving of ten children. Ola died October 11, 2016, in Bancroft, Ontario at age 92. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Clifford Partridge, in 1989. Mother of Lee-Ann Martin (Paul Hudy), Suzanne Partridge and Scott Partridge (Kippy). Grandmother of Laurianne Bayley, Joel Konrad (Leah) and David Partridge. Great grandmother of Alexandra Bayley, Aidan Bayley, Eamon Van Der Heide and Isaac Konrad. As a ward of the Children's Aid Society, Ola went to live with Jeannette and Frank Cronk and their son Roy on her beloved Bay of Quinte. At age eighteen she joined the Canadian Women's Army Corps from which she was discharged in 1946. Ola and Cliff raised their three children in Oakville, where she was actively involved in activities in which her children participated. Ola graduated from Quo Vadis nursing school in 1971 and pursued her career in psychiatric nursing in Oakville until she retired at the age of 68. Upon retirement, she returned to her roots and moved to Paudash Lake. Over the years, Ola travelled extensively throughout the world and always had fascinating stories to share. Paula (née Richard) Our precious Paula passed away peacefully with family by her side at The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the age of 59. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late James and Jean Richard (Sampson). Loving wife and best friend of Ken for 39 years. Cherished mother of Jillian (Chris Silveira), and Stephen (Anastasia) and Stepmother of Kimberley (Bob Armstrong). Proud grandmother of Isabelle Paula. Devoted sister of Donnie Richard (Claire), Judi Richard, Janet Kay (Buz), Paul Richard (Angie), and pre-deceased by the late C.J. Richard (Karen), late Maureen Chase, and her late (infancy) twin brother Gillis Richard. Dear sister-in-law of Sandie Fox (Ronnie), Joanne Ballam (Ralph), Mike Richards (Brenda), Jimmy Richards (Valerie), Christine Dowling, Harold Richards (Laurie), and Tony Richards (Kelly). Paula will also be missed by her extended family including many nieces and nephews and by numerous friends and colleagues. Paula was such a brave and inspirational woman to all that loved and knew her. She touched the hearts of all she met with her wit, charm, loving and friendly ways. Paula loved to play SloPitch in her earlier days and more recently, loved to golf. But most of all she loved spending time with her children, Isabelle, and her extended family on our annual trips back to Nova Scotia. Paula had lots of great memories and made many lasting friendships during her 40 year career with The Royal Bank. She passed away peacefully at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital October 14, 2016, with family at her side. In the wake of increasing civil strife, they were forced to leave Indonesia and moved to post-war Holland in the late 1940s, and then emigrated to Canada in 1959 with their two young sons, finally settling in Oakville, where she has lived since in her own home. Doreen loved gardening, cooking, sewing, travelling to visit with her brothers and sisters as well as having them visit her, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very giving, caring, loving, empathetic and nurturing person who would always extend her warm hospitality and be happy to treat you to her much loved Dutch "butterkoek", yet her inner strength and determination saw our family through many difficulties.
