KAY, Marcel December 1, 1926 - October 9, 2016 Born in Lodz, Poland and passed away peacefully at Ian Anderson House hospice in Oakville in his 90th year, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 61 years, Stephanie, daughter Francine, son Joseph, daughter-in-law Catherine and grandsons, Zachary, Matthew, Aaron, Jamie and Tyler. A man of strength, determination, bravery, fortitude and intelligence, he survived on his own, at the age of 13, in war torn Europe. Years later, he found out that he had become an orphan, after losing his entire family. With help from the Red Cross, he survived the war and joined a division of the Royal Air Force, where he was a Spitfire and Mosquito mechanic. After the war ended, he lived in Davos, Switzerland. He met his wife Stephanie there. He saw her across the dining room and it was love at first sight. They were inseparable from that time on. He became an electronic engineer and moved to Canada in 1959, where he and Stephanie built a life from scratch. He took pride in his children and later on, his grandchildren. He was self-reliant and could build or fix anything. He loved to read, especially about history and politics. He loved art and classical music. Our utmost gratitude and appreciation goes to Dr. Albiruni Razak, his wonderful oncologist, who gave him the incredible gift of 3 more years to be with his family. Special thanks to the PMH and Mount Sinai staff and nurses, St. Elizabeth nurses, and the wonderful staff at Hearthstone. To the incredible PSWs, nurses and Dr. Benjamin at Ian Anderson House hospice, we cannot thank you enough for your loving care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Princess Margaret Hospital Walk to End Cancer (c/o Catherine Morrison) or Ian Anderson House hospice would be appreciated. Honour the memory of a LOVED ONE...
