The Y was awarded the cash in two `grow' grants last March. The Y put the funds toward meeting the needs of children, youths and families in identified priority areas; and, engaging young people in leadership training and skills development. That's where the Y operates an after-school program for youths. Flynn was joined by Ontario's Associate Education Minister and Halton MPP Indira Naidoo-Harris and OTF volunteer Mark Emmanuel. Officials met a handful of students participating in sports activities offered through the Priority Neighbourhood Projects, which received $250,000 to expand its program reach over three years.
