O Oakville resident Mike Wilson and his common-law wife Jody Cunningham (at left) dropped off a big cheque at the Canadian Cancer Society's (CCS) Halton Community Office recently. Together, with the help of volun teers, they raised $5,820 through their annual Haunted Backyard attraction, which was open on weekends throughout October. The funds raised will support life-saving cancer research and support services to people living with cancer and their families. To date, the Haunted Backyard has raised about $15,000 in sup port of the CCS. Wilson lost his father to cancer and says he knows the importance of research in the fight against the deadly disease. Although located in Oakville, in the area of Third Line and Hixon Street, Wilson's Haunted Backyard has attracted guests from all over Halton, and beyond, over the years. As a youngster, Wilson said he always enjoyed seeing people dressed up in costumes when he went trick-or-treating.
