"In the world today, we're constantly bombarded with negativity and so it' s easy to feel powerless, but the #RiseUpMovement is about spreading the message that we can do amazing things when we make love our theme, and peace our collective goal," said Loughrey. The now-Toronto-based soul/pop artist said she started her "Rise Up! Workshops" as a way to encourage a new generation to live out her message. "The message that each of us has been given a unique gift in order that we might give back to our communities," she explained. "It' s amazing to see these kids in middle school affirming their own strengths, and exploring the ways they can give back." Loughrey has taken her workshops to schools across the country to encourage youths to think outside the box and start making their own positive impact on their own communities. The stories collected from her workshops are shared on her website, www.lizloughrey.com, and she invites anyone to take part in the movement by submitting their own story on social media using the #RiseUpMovement hashtag. Loughrey said she believes R ise Up is her first single that is a true representation of who she is as an artist -- her up coming EP will be released in 2017. R ise Up was written and produced in Miami by Loughrey, Adrian X (who has worked with The Weeknd, Drake, and Kylie Minogue) and Supa Dups (Drake, Party Next Door, Mary J. Blige).
