Ford said it's been rewarding meeting people from all walks of life and hearing stories of why they've chosen to make a donation. "One man said to us with tears in his eyes, `It was the Salvation Army that got me back together with my boy, I had lost touch with my son and they found him for me and we got back together,'" she shared. "Other people have talked about their experiences with their father. I remember one lady said, `My father would never forgive me if I didn't donate to the Salvation Army kettle because the Salvation Army was such a blessing to him when he was overseas in the war.' So, stories like that keep you going, keep encouraging you." Ford added when she was volunteering her time at a kettle in the South Oakville Centre (then called Hopedale Mall), it was a joy to see children excited about dropping off change after they'd purchased something from Tim Hortons.
