Oakville' s Patrick Duffy held off three skaters from host South Korea to earn a bronze medal at last Saturday' s World Cup short-track speed skating race. Competing at the site of 2018 Olympic short-track speed skating competition, Duffy finished third in the 1,000 metres to earn his second individual World Cup medal and first since the 2014-15 season. The former Oakville Speed Skating Club member finished behind Kazakhstan's Nurbergen Zhumagaziyev and Canadian team mate Pascal Dion, who took the silver. "It feels pretty great," Duffy said. "It was quite shocking to finish third, to be honest. I couldn't ask for a better finish, having Pascal on the podium with me." With three skaters from the World Cup host country in the six-man final, the 25-yearold Duffy had his work cut out for him to earn a spot on the podium.
