The to w n 's professional c o n tra c to r w ill p ru n e trees on b e h a lf o f O akville H ydro to ensure safe clearance a ro u n d hyd ro lines and to m in im iz e sa fe ty hazards and p o w e r outages. Trees are pru n e d to th e Electrical Safety A u th o rity 's (ESA) in d u s try standard o f p ro v id in g a m in im u m th re e -m e tre (1 0 -fo o t) clearance. In rare instances, trees g ro w in g to o close to h y d ro lines m ay re q u ire rem oval w h e n th e clearance sta n d a rd c a n n o t be achieved using acceptable p ru n in g practices. In some situ a tio n s, th e to w n m ust p ru n e p riv a te ly o w n e d trees if th e y are g ro w in g to o close to h yd ro lines.
