The annual New Year's Levee is an oppor tunity for the community to gather in an in formal setting to welcome 2 0 1 7 with neigh bours, Burton and Town councillors. The Town Crier will officially ring in the new year and the mayor will make brief re marks. The Oakville Children' s Choir and High Rendition Jazz -- a local youth jazz band -- will be performing. The free get-together takes place Sunday, Jan. 8 in the South Atrium at Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Rd. It takes place from 1-3 p.m. Construction worker hurt at Oakville Place A construction worker was injured on the job outside of RioCan Oakville Place last Thursday night (Dec. 30). The Oakville Fire Department responded to a 9-1-1 call originating from Oakville Place, following a report of a worker sustaining inju ry from what is believed to be a roof-level steel beam that fell on them as they were working below, in front of the Bank of Montreal. W hen fire, Halton police and EMS arrived on scene, the person was conscious, but had difficulty breathing, according to Oakville Fire. The patient was transported to Hamilton General Hospital. Each Lotto 6/49 draw includes one guaranteed $1 million prize. "Somebody' s going to win the guaranteed $1 million prize each and every draw. This time the winning ticket was sold in Oakville," said Wendy Montgomery, OLG vice-president of lottery marketing & sales, in a media release. There have been 376 guaranteed $1 million prize draws to date, of which, 166 have been sold in Ontario.
