Friday, September 15, 2000 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER 19 Run for the Cure relay finishes in Oakville Saturday The CIBC Run for the Cure Unity Relay is coming to Oakville on Saturday. The last relay runner is expected to arrive here at 1:30 p.m. to be welcomed by Mayor Ann Mulvale at the Running Room, 158 Lakeshore Rd. The relay will begin in Hamilton at 10 a.m., at the Running Room, 1457 Main St. W., and follow a course past Hamilton City Hall, along Bay Street and York Boulevard to Plains Road into Burlington. From there it will continue on Drury Lane to Central Park, the site of this year's Run for the Cure on Oct. 1st, starting at 9:15 a.m. The run starts at 10 a.m. This run is one of 29 CIBC Run for the Cure sites. From Burlington, the final leg of the run will follow Lakeshore Road to Oakville, where Mulvale will meet the final runner. The Unity Relay is being held to pro mote the CIBC Run for the Cure, and to demonstrate the unity shared by Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton to raise funds for breast cancer research. Breast cancer is the leading cause of death among women aged 35 to 55. The Burlington/Hamilton/Oakville site raised $200,000, last year, to help fund research, education, diagnosis and treatment.
