Burton was re-elected at the board' s monthly meeting at the Halton Regional Centre/Halton Regional Police Headquarters Thursday (Jan. 26). This will be Burton' s fourth term as chair, first elected in 20 f 4, and has served on the police services board since 20 f 0. Oakville resident Barb Ferrone, a provincial appointee on the board since 20 f 4 and executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton (BBBSH) was elected vice-chair for her second term. She replaces registered nurse Marion Yee, who served two terms as vice-chair. The seven-member board provides civilian oversight of the police service. ft is a provincially-mandated legal entity that operates independently from Regional or municipal council and is responsible for ensuring Halton residents receive adequate and effective police services, in accordance with policing standards issued by the Province.
