LEED® is a nationally recognized certification program for the design, operation and construction of high performance green buildings. The 1.6 million square foot facility, which opened on December 13, 2015, achieved Gold certification. LEED® buildings are certified within four levels; gold is the second highest level of achievement. "Conserving environmental resources while creating state-of-the-art healing environments for patients and their families w as very im portant.. .and w e are extremely proud to be recognized as leaders in sustainability and green building," said Bill Bailey, Halton Healthcare's Vice President of Redevelopment.
