29 | Thursday, March 9, 2017 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Drama series presents final show of season The Oakville Drama Series presents the comedy Picasso at the Lapin Agile to conclude its 37th season. The production runs from W ednesday March 8 to Saturday March 11 at 8 p.m. and Sunday March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Oakville Centre, 130 Navy St. Steve Martin, the celebrated American writer, actor, playwright and banjo player, wrote Picasso at the Lapin Agile. The comedy is set in Paris, 1904, and the Tapin Agile is a beloved wa tering hole to struggling artists and would-be geniuses. Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso walk into a bar -- the result is a charming comedy. Oakville resident Mary Rose di rects Picasso at the Lapin Agile , while her husband, Wade Pitman, leads the team that is building the set. Several members of the crew and actors, including Harris Bailey, who plays the young Pablo Picasso, also come from Oakville. As the two great minds of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso meet, they argue over the art of physics and the physics of art, all while at tempting to impress a beautiful woman. Steve Martin plays fast and loose with facts, as the two geniuses and the patrons with whom they share the bar ponder on the century's achievements and other fanciful topics with infectious dizziness. Tickets are $30 for evening per formances and $25 for the Sunday matinee. Prices include theatre handling fees and taxes. Postage is extra. lilim a S P m m m G e n e ra l $ 8 .5 0 1 C hildren & Senio rs $ 6 .5 0 1A ll s eatsT u es $ 5 .0 0 SHOWTiMES FOR MARCH 10-16 NEW THiS WEEK: KONG: SKULL iSLAND BEAUTY AND T he B east STARTs M a r c h 16 Beauty and the Beast (PG) Thu: 7:00,9:45 The Lego Batman Movie (PG) Fri-S un: 12:45,2:55,5:05,7:10 Mon - Thu: 11:15am, 12:45, 2:55,5:05,7:10 Ballerina (G) Fri- Sun: 12:30,2:35,4:40,7:00 M o n -T h u : 10:45am, 12:30, 2:35,4:40,7:00 Lion (PG) Fri-Thu: 9:20 Jackie (PG) Fri-W ed: 1:15,8:50 Logan (18A) Fri-Thu: 1:00,3:50,6:45,9:40 Kong: Skull Island (14A) F ri-Thu: 1:30,4:15,7:20,9:45 Moonlight (14A) Fri-W ed: 3:30,6:30 Thu:3:30 La La Land (PG) F ri-Thu: 9:00 Sing (G) Mon - Thu: 11:00am Rehearsing for the Oakville Drama Series production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile are, from left, Michael Comparone (Albert Einstein), Harris Bailey (Pablo Picasso), Samantha McAlonen (Germaine), Marija Lukic (Suzanne), David Smith (Freddy), Robert Laszcz (Gaston) and Scout Stolpmann (Schmendiman). | Alex Ragozzino photo A discount code also available: ODS10 for 10 per cent off.
