Rookie Halton Regional Police said last Friday that Dr. Ferdinand `Fred'Mejilla, 50, of Oakville, died in hos pital from gunshot wounds suffered at his Burling ton business, the Mejilla Family Chiropractic clinic, during an incident that occurred around noon on Thursday (March 16). Mejilla was the owner and operator of the clinic at 195 Plains Rd. E. He leaves behind five children. Police say the suspect in the killing, David Wil liamson, 44, of Burlington died in Hamilton Gen eral Hospital on Saturday (March 18) from what investigators described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound sustained during the incident. Williamson had at one time been a former patient of Mejilla. Williamson' s wife, Shawna Nickelo-Williamson, is a staff member at the clinic and was working at the time of the shooting.
