Burloak Canoe Club wins long running regatta Held on Toronto Island, the Dominion Day Regatta is the only one of its kind in North America with events in sprint canoeing and rowing alternating on the same course, and has operated continuously since 1884. The Burloak Canoe Club's mixed masters war canoe team won a gold medal over a distance of 500 metres at the long-running event. The Oakville-based Burloak Canoe Club has a bronze and two gold medals at the last three national club championships. It runs grass roots programs for all ages and abilities.
