So many crashes happen up here because it' s known people can street race without being caught. Don't we pay taxes, too? W hy are so few police officers patrolling for speeding cars? ANSWER: The Halton Regional Police Service recognizes the concerns of residents related to ag gressive driving on rural roads, throughout Halton. In response, officers conduct comprehensive pa trols across their Districts to engage those driving aggressively Also, we have launched unique initia tives such as the Reducing Rural Speeds Project, Operation Decoy, and Rural Impact, targeting ag gressive drivers who routinely present the greatest risk. These initiatives resulted in hundreds of Provincial Offence Notices being issued. Additionally a num ber of charges were laid for Stunt Driv ing due to excessive speeds, resulting in a seven-day vehicle seizure and a licence suspension. S taff Sgt. Craig Platt Traffic safety is raised as a commu nity concern and Halton Police designs and delivers services with this in mind. At times, we need your help as our partners in community safety and encourage resi dents to visit our website (wwwhaltonpolice.ca) if they wish to register an online complaint, through our Road Watch program, or as a Traffic Com plaint. Road Watch is a community-driven initia tive which allows for anonymous online reporting of traffic concerns. ANSWER: Halton Police embraces opportuni ties to collaborate with the Town of Milton when traffic safety concerns are identified. An example of this is Project Safe Crossing, which saw Halton Police and the Town collaborate earlier this year to improve safety at pedestrian crossovers in Milton. In response to resident concerns regarding this particular crosswalk, the Town of Milton Engineer ing Services Department is undertaking a U-turn study and will make recommendations for im provements.
