13, 2 0 1 7 | 8 HDSB and HCDSB finalize school yearcalendars Halton District School Board (HDSB) trustees have approved the proposed calendar for the 2 0 1 7 -1 8 school year. As usual, the first day in class for students is the day after Labour Day, Tuesday, Sept. 5. The last day of school for secondary students is June 28, 2 0 1 8 while elementary pupils finish the school year on Friday, June 29. The 2 0 1 7 -1 8 school year calendar is aligned with the Halton Catholic District School Board calendar in order to save resources on school bus transportation, which is shared between the boards, say public board officials. Elementary and secondary school students will not attend school on these days: Monday, Sept. 25, Friday, Oct. 6 , Friday, Nov. 24, Friday, Feb. 2, Friday, Feb. 16, Friday, April 27. Elementary students will also be off Friday, June 1 and secondary school students will be off Friday, June 29.
