Jack was born in Moosejaw. Saskatchewan in 1920 to David Sutherland and Pearl MacLean. Dear brother of Robert and his wife Thelma, Murray and his wife Bernice and the late Patricia Cooke. Jack served with the Royal Canadian Artillery from 1938, serving in the Second World War, the Korean Conflict and the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Pakistan - India. Jack was one of the first of two pilots to fly heli copters in the Canadian Army. Retiring from the Canadian Forces in 1970, Jack joined St. John s Ambulance as Provincial Chief of Staff Officer until his retirement. Life member of the Military Institute; Past President of the Curling Club, Military Institute; Past President of the Probus Club; former member of T.O.W.A.R.F.; and a member of the Fort York Legion.
