Outstanding between the pipes were Laura Robinson and Amelia May and they were helped out by outstanding defensive players Krysten DiTomasso, Mary Stuart and Erin Young. Oakville downed Etobicoke 1-0 in the opener. Diana Matheson found the net in the first period, assisted by Trisha Kosak. In game two, Oakville lost 1-0 to Kingston when they scored on a power play. It was the one and only goal scored on the Hornets during the five game tourna ment. Perth was no match for Oakville, falling 4-0. Single markers were scored by Trisha Kosak, Lisa Csima, Lindsay Stuart (on a fine individual rush) and Kristina Melhuish. Assists went to Diana Matheson (2), Tania Mula and Lindsay Stuart. Going into the semifinals Oakville had to face the only team they hadn't beaten during regular season play. The Hornets knew what they had to do and team play did it for them, downing their rivals 3-0. Goals were scored by Lindsay Stuart, Alicia Dercho and Diana Matheson. Assisting were Matheson and Ashley Grimm. Sault Ste. Marie was the team to beat for the gold medal. The Hornets had their work cut out for them after losing the gold to this team in a prior tournament. This time, how ever, the Hornets prevailed 3-0 to take home the hardware. Diana Matheson led the scoring with a pair of goals, sandwiched around Shanna Cooke's goal. Assists went to Alicia Dercho (2), Lisa Csima, Trisha Kosak and Katie Zwir. REGULAR LEAGUE In regular league action, the Oakville Hornets are in second place. They lost their first game on Nov. 7,4-1 against Brampton. Brampton had a fast start with two goals in the first six minutes before Lisa Csima put Oakville on the board 19 seconds later, assisted by Lindsay Stuart and Shanna Cooke. On Nov. 12 it was Oakville that built up a 2-0 lead en route to a 2-1 win over host Leaside who stopped the shutout bid with a late goal. Oakville goals were scored by Katie Zwir and Kristina Melhuish. Lindsay Stuart had two assists and Shanna Cooke a single helper. At home on Nov. 21, Oakville shut out Mississauga 2-0. Trisha Kosak and Alicia Dercho scored with assists to Diana Matheson (2) and Lisa Csima (2). Friday night the Hornets were on home ice meeting the Leaside Wildcats for the first time this season. Tied in the standings with Leaside, the Hornets dearly wanted a win, however a slightly flat perfor mance left them on the losing end of 3-0 score. Looking to better their per formance of Friday the Hornets played host to Aurora on Saturday at Ice Sports. With a much improved effort the home side managed a 1-1 tie with Oakville's goal scored by Taylor Metcalf and assisted by Kaitlyn Wheeler. Sunday took the girls to Burlington where the line of Justine Bernier, Melissa Kennedy and Laura Pendlebury led their team to a convincing 5-2 win. The hot trio accounted for four of Oakville's goals, three for Kennedy and one by Bernier. The other scorer for Oakville was Alyssa Molfetta.
