For the eighth Christmas season, merchants carefully select items for the Gingerbread House that retail for $10 or less. Gifts for mom, dad, sister, brother, aunt, uncle and grandma and grandpa. The Gingerbread House is located on the lower level of the shopping cen tre on the north side, near IGA. The Gingerbread House is open for chil dren Tuesday to Friday, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Children, 10 years and under, are invited to bring along their Christmas shopping list and get all their shopping done in the Gingerbread House. All items are $10 and under (including tax) and 10% of the proceeds will benefit the Halton Children's Aid Foundation (limit five gifts per visit). Santa's elves are on hand to help wrap and tag each gift, for free. Oakville Place will be open extend ed hours for Christmas shopping, Monday to Saturday, 9:20 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24th, the shop ping centre will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oakville Place will be open to mid night on Dec. 22nd for Midnight Madness. Santa will be in his Santascape at Centre Court to Dec. 24th. His hours are Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and 2 to 4:45 p.m. and 6 to 7:45 p.m.; Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and on Dec. 24th, 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Japan Camera will take pictures of children with Santa. The Oakville Big Sisters will have a gift wrapping both at the upper level, outside The Bay, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and on Dec. 24th from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other charitable groups at Oakville Place include UNICEF is selling Christmas cards to Dec. 16th; the Shriners will be selling Christmas cakes from Dec. 13th to 24th; World Vision has a booth to raise funds for needy children around the world to Dec. 31st; and the Oakville May Court Club has its Festival of Trees to bene fit Halton VON's Hospice Visiting Program, on the main level in front of Sears to Dec. 9th.
