At a special meeting June 27, Coun cil endorsed an overall master plan for the Reynolds Street property, as well as base funding and amenities for the new Southeast Oakville Community Centre, to be built on the site. It also gave the green light to some programming and features for the community centre including expan sion of the single gym to a double gym ($470,000); therapeutic warm-water pool ($2.74 million), fitness centre ($2.55 million) and an indoor walking track ($1.8 million). Other amenities planned for the community centre are an indoor pool see Town on p.7 The fate of the former Saw-Whet Golf Course was officially sealed by the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) recently - favouring the developer' s application and its agreement with the Town of Oakville for the property at 1401 Bronte Rd. The OMB' s decision -- what amounted to the OMB' s stamp of approval on a settlement reached between the Town and Bronte Green Corporation some time ago -- was issued by the OMB June 21. It will allow Bronte Green Corporation to move forward with building a residential see Settlement on p.3 Children^ Festival isthis Sunday Artscene Special Olympics Ontario Meet Sports Walton Memorial United Church celebrated Canada's 150th birthday with a strawberry social, at the conclusion of its Sunday morning service. The free event was open both to the congregation and the public. Margaret McDermid, who turned 88 on Sunday (July 2) celebrated with some ice cream and berries at the social after church.
