Community Centre Public Consultation sessions 3:30­5:30 p.m. OR 7­9 p.m. Town Hall, Bronte and Palermo rooms The town continues to move forward with its plans to construct a new community centre in south east Oakville as part of the redevelopment of the former hospital site. The amenities for the centre were approved by Council in June and the architectural/ general contractor team was selected in July. As a member of the community, we would like to hear from you about the conceptual designs for the centre and potential uses for the park. Please join us at one of the two public consultation sessions at town hall on September 28 to learn more and share your thoughts. The development of the community centre will begin in late 2018 with an opening scheduled for fall 2020. Open House -- Former Hospital Site 5­7 p.m. Town Hall, South Atrium Progress continues on the redevelopment plans for the overall site. In June, Town Council endorsed a master plan for the lands and in July the town's demolition contractor mobilized on site and started interior demolition. The overall demolition and remediation will take approximately 12 months to complete. Moving ahead, a number of Planning Act approvals are necessary in order for the redevelopment of the site to proceed including official plan and zoning amendments, and draft plan of subdivision/site plan approvals. The public meeting regarding amendments to the town's Official Plan and Zoning By-law is scheduled to go to Planning and Development Council in early October. Attend our open house to learn more.
