The St. Andrew's Church Christmas in Oakville, a tour of eight decorated homes plus the church, happens Saturday Dec. 4th. The houses on this self-guided tour will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 each, available at: Raymar Lighting, Upstairs Downstairs Tea Room, M ary's Keepsakes, Bookers, Cove Classics (formerly Added Touch and Pine Room) - all in downtown Oakville; M ichael's Hairstyling at Maple Grove Village; English Butler at Oakville Place; Flippance & Carr, Bronte Village Mall; Abbey Health Foods, Hopedale Mall; Upper Oakville Card Shop, at Upper Oakville Shopping Centre; Glen Abbey Framing, Oakville Town Centre; and Peach Tree Wall Coverings, Glen Abbey Plaza. The tickets include more details and the addresses of the houses, and a map. The eight houses are the tour are: The William J. Sumner House, decorated by Design Imagery: This heritage house in the heart of Old Oakville was built in 1831 by William J. Sumner, proprietor of the Oakville House. A winner of the 1998 Oakville Urban Design Awards, this home was completely restored and renovated. The Daniel Bray Home -- circa 1834, decorated by J & L Designs: This lovely old home, decorated beautifully for Christmas, has seen many holiday seasons. It has the feeling of a large charming cottage and exudes a casual coziness with a mix of old pine, chintz upholstery, and large wicker chairs. The Leiningen Home, decorated by Paula Aicklen and Debbie Leiningen: This home, enhanced by beautiful furnishings, has a naturally elegant yet relaxed style. The decorating team, including special touches by artist Leslea Mehltretter, decorated it in a European style. The Price Home, decorated by Pat Price and her daughters: Upon entering this gracious traditional home, you will sense the ambiance of a family preparing for the holiday season. Pat and Frank have lived here for 37 years and their home is filled with treasures and decorations collected over the years. The St. Andrew's House Tour originated in 1981 after a luncheon held at this home. The Ber Home, decorated by Linda Norris & Associate Lori Cullum, Lasting Impressions: There is much to admire in this out standing home -- not only its history but the beauty of design, the perfect placement of furniture, the crisp colours and beautiful floors. This house was built in 1865 and one of its inhabitants was James Wesley Hall, an agent for the Underground Railroad which helped negro slaves escape to Canada, where they were protect ed by the 1850 Fugitive Slave Law.
