The win improved the Bruins to 4-3 and puts Sheridan comfortably in third place in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association's Central Division. Davies scored the winner when she caught the UTM keeper off her line, lofting a shot over her from 35 yards out. Sheridan keeper Savanna Wood made eight saves, including a stop on a partial breakaway in the opening half, to record the clean sheet. The Bruins applied a lot of pressure on UTM in the second half, finishing the match with 18 shots on goal, but weren't rewarded until Davies' goal two minutes into stoppage time. Sheridan plays Conestoga in its final home game of the regular season at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Trafalgar Road campus. Thomas Maia and Spencer Kersten scored third-period goals as the Oakville Blades rallied for their seventh straight win, 3-2 over the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. With Oakville down 2-1 entering the final period Monday, Maia scored his second of the game to tie the score three minutes into the third. Two minutes later Kersten scored what proved to be the game-winner. Chris Elliot made 16 of this 35 saves in the third to preserve the victory. Maia gave Oakville the lead at 5:38 of the first, but the Jr. Canadiens tied the game midway through the first period. That goal snapped Elliot's shutout streak at 178 minutes. Toronto then took the lead with the only goal of the second period. It was only the second time this season the Blades trailed heading into the third period. Matt Hayami had a pair of assists for Oakville. Saturday, Christian Purboo stopped 33 shots to lead the Blades to a 2-1 win over Mississauga. The Chargers opened the scoring but Oakville responded with two goals in the last four minutes of the period. Zach Bramwell's shorthanded goal pulled the Blades even at 1-1 and Matt Steen put Oakville ahead with 44 seconds remaining in the period. Purboo stopped 18 shots over the final two periods as the Blades held off the Chargers for the win. Elliot posted his second straight shutout, turning aside 29 shots, as the Blades blanked the Toronto Jr. Canadiens 3-0 last Friday. Steen's first goal in a Blades uniform 14 minutes into the game proved to be the winner and came against his former team. Callum Jones added his first Jr. A goal 1:21 into the third. Jack Ricketts added an insurance marker five minutes later. Oakville, 9-2-1, hosts two important divisional games this week. CHA honours Penn State goalie Daniela Paniccia Oakville's Daniela Paniccia was named the College Hockey America (CHA) goalie of the week. Paniccia came on to play the third period in Penn State's 3-1 victory over Union College, making four saves. The following day she turned as 20 shots in a 1-1 tie in the rematch. The sophomore goaltender finished the week with a 0.71 goalsagainst average and a .960 save percentage. It is the fourth career CHA goalie-of-the-week honour for the former Oakville Hornet. Sheridan men's rugby team clinches playoff berth for the first time J.P . Munro scored three tries and Jan Hamade had 17 points as the Sheridan Bruins routed Mohawk 73-7 to clinch their first playoff berth in program history. Munro and Hamade's performances both set team records. Munro became the first Bruin to score three tries while Hamade had a try and kicked six converts to eclipse teammate Owen Schimpl's mark of 16 points against Seneca last season. Andrew Zandona scored two tries for the Bruins, who improved to 4-0, setting a new Sheridan mark for wins in a season. For the fourth straight week Sheridan also set team records for points (73), tries (11) and largest margin of victory (66). Matt DaCosta scored a try and kicked three converts, Nick Galipo, Brandon Roberts, Schimpl and Alexander Yarzon also scored tries. The Bruins meet Mohawk again on Saturday in Hamilton. Despite clinching a playoff spot, coach Rick Bria said the team needs to focus on improving in its final practices and games before the end of the regular season. "We're not looking that far forward. The only thing that's in front of us right now is preparing for our second meeting against Mohawk," he said. "Our off-loads need work and we need to work even better together. We've been telling them since the beginning of the year that we're stronger as one, not as 15."
