There is an opening for one new Director to serve for a three-year term ending in May 2021, two possible renewal terms of up to three years each, or nine years in total. This position will commence in May 2018. The GTAA is a private, non-share capital corporation, responsible for managing and operating Lester B. Pearson International Airport. Directors must possess the skills and expertise to oversee GTAA's complex commercial business, and owe duties of care and loyalty to the GTAA like those of any other Corporate Director. Remuneration is determined and paid by the GTAA. This includes: ·Candidates must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of at least 18 years of age. ·Candidates cannot be or have been a federal, provincial, or municipal elected official or Senate of Canada member within two years immediately preceding the date of appointment. ·Candidates cannot be or have been employed by, or be providing full-time services to, any federal, provincial or municipal government or agency or the GTAA, or a shareholder of a related GTAA subsidiary, within two years immediately preceding the date of appointment. Candidates with the following additional qualifications and public company experience as a senior executive (CEO, CFO, etc.), or as a Board Director, are strongly preferred: ·Public company finance and capital markets experience. ·Commercial property development experience. ·Large-scale commercial retail and office management. ·Urban intermodal transportation systems and connectivity, including large-scale, complex infrastructure management. ·Demonstrated community involvement in Halton Region. ·Ability to devote the required time during normal business hours to attend GTAA Board and committee meetings, as well as the annual public meeting and meetings of the GTAA's Members. ·Other specific knowledge or experience, which may be an asset to the Board. The dip takes place at 2 p.m. This year marks the 33rd annual plunge into the chilly waters of Lake Ontario in Oakville to ring in the New Year and raise funds for clean water projects in Mali, Western Africa, through World Vision Canada. Even if you don't want to take the plunge, people are invited to enjoy the live music, dressed in their craziest costumes to win prizes. Last year' s Courage Polar Bear Dip attracted more than 800 dippers and raised nearly $150,000 in addition to online donations in support of World Vision clean water projects. In addition to people taking the dip, organizers are also looking for volunteers to help out on event day, as well as donations, promotional items, printing, tents and prizes to make the fundraiser a success.
