www.insidehalton.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, November 24, 2017 | 8 Rogers Hometown Hockey arrives here this weekend by Marta Marychuk Oakville Beaver Staff Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour arrives in Oakville, for a celebration of hockey this Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 25 and 26, and a weekend of free outdoor hockey festivities. It will feature broadcast hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone, as well as meet-and-greet opportunities with National Hockey League (NHL) alumni Darryl Sittler, Adam Graves and Darcy Tucker. There will also be live local entertainment and activities for the whole family in the downtown at 184 Church St. The two-day hockey festival begins at noon Saturday, Nov. 25, in downtown Oakville, and will conclude Sunday afternoon following the Rogers Hometown Hockey outdoor viewing party. The afternoon's broadcast kicks off with a special pregame show hosted live on site by MacLean and Slone from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio, at 1:30 p.m. on Sportsnet and Sportsnet NOW. The show is followed by a showdown between the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers. The free hockey-themed weekend also features games, prize giveaways, activities, and live local entertainment for the whole family, including: · Rogers Fan Hub features innovative and interactive experiences, showcasing virtual autographs from NHL stars, a hockey-themed Zamboni video game and autograph signings with NHL alumni Darryl Sittler and Adam Graves. In addition, fans are treated to free hot chocolate on site. · GamePlus: Rogers customers can come to the GamePlus desk in the Rogers Fan Hub and redeem exclusive experiences such as meetand-greets with NHL alumni, autographed merchandise and tours of the Sportsnet Mobile Studio. · Sportsnet Augmented Reality Photo Booth where fans have the chance to get close to Ron MacLean | Metroland Media | Metroland Media their favorite players through augmented reality technology. Fans can take photos with virtual images of NHL stars, and have the photo emailed directly to them. · The Hockey Circus Show presents Paz, the worldrenowned hockey acrobat, who juggles everything from pucks to flaming hockey sticks all while standing on top of a net. · Scotiabank Community Locker Room is a familyfriendly space to engage hockey fans, celebrate the game, and interact with NHL alumni, such as Darcy Tucker. Scotiabank will also donate $15,000 to local minor hockey associations. · Dodge Family Zone features the Stow 'n Go Challenge, a hockey-themed obstacle course. Also, fans have the opportunity to enter a contest to win $5,000 for their local minor hockey association and a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica for their family. All contest entrants will receive a cobranded Dodge and Rogers Hometown Hockey retro toque. · Tim Hortons Ball Hockey Rink presented by Sportsnet features pickup games for the community, including local Timbits Hockey players. · Tim Hortons Coffee Truck where people can stop by to receive a free cup of coffee, hot chocolate or a latte. · Dr. Oetker Giuseppe Pizzeria where fans can enjoy a free slice of pizza and play the Find Giuseppe Match Game to win a rooftop experience and other prizes. · Playmobil Kids Zone: Fans have the chance to face off against friends and family with the PLAYMOBIL NHL Arena and its lineup of NHL figures. In the zone, fans will also be able to enter to win a new NHL play set. · OK Tire Zamboni Pit Stop features a pit-crew-like experience where fans have the opportunity to test their tire-hanging skills on a replica Zamboni. · Live local entertainment throughout the weekend beginning with Mackenzie Leigh Meyer performing on Saturday, followed by Steve Strongman on Sunday. · Scotiabank and Dodge present the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour, which rolls into 24 communities across Canada this season.
