The crime solving program relies on donations to maintain an anonymous tip line and pay rewards of up to $2,000. Crime Stoppers of Halton will mark its 30th anniversary in 2018 by celebrating the success achieved through the years to help maintain Halton Region as one of the safest areas in Canada. On an accumulative basis since 1988, tips to the program have solved 2,170 cases and led to the arrest of 1,184 individuals in Halton. Statistics also show that anonymous callers have provided information that has led to the recovery of $2,734,747 in stolen property and the seizure of drugs with a street value of $18,098,333. The focus of Halton Crime Stoppers is taking tips to solve crime at the local level ranging from break-ins to bank robberies and hate crime to homicides. Not surprisingly the majority of calls to the Crime Stoppers hotline relate to drug trafficking, but tips cover all aspects of crime occurring in any community.
