Each year MADD Canada, which is headquartered in Oakville, produces a school assembly program highlighted by a video that is presented personally by MADD representatives to some million students in middle and high schools across Canada. The video is a 30-minute drama, followed by about 15 minutes of hard-hitting scenes of real people talking about the losses of their loved ones. This year the story features a high school band working on their demo at a recording studio after winning a battle of the bands. There is also a recording school and one of the band members is asked to audition, and is then later accepted into the program. Tempers flare as the teens wrestle with the fact that one member has been singled out. Leaving the studio, they're arguing and one of the band members, the driver, has had a few too many drinks... one of the teens calls 911 from the back seat to report him. Sadly, it' s too late, and a horrible accident occurs that will change their lives forever. Filmed on Chisholm Drive near Milton Hydro in early November, the crash scene depicts a car flipped onto its roof, while EMS and Halton police officers are on-site. Producers said they spent a day on location, and thanked Halton police, the Milton Fire Department, Milton Hydro and Halton paramedics for their support.
