Predeceased by his parents Guy and Mina Belle Ferguson of New Brunswick, sisters Evelyn, Geraldine, Joyce, Mazie and Roberta. Beloved husband of Marian and ex-husband to Jacqueline Carmichael. Beloved father of Kelly of Burlington, Cindy of Orillia, Tricia (Billy), Janet of Oakville and Heather of Vancouver. Loving step-father and friend to Sandra (Eric Firth) of Arthur, Jamie Alexander (Kathryn) of Rockwood, Barbra (Ron Dellaire) of Milton and Debra (John Reid) of Georgetown. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren; Cory, Jennifer, Kyle, Jade, Daniel, Michelle, Yannibel, Massiel, Darlyn, Jayme, Aidan, Logan and Lucas. Bob was born in Campbellton, New Brunswick and moved to Oakville and worked for Gilbrae/ Oakville Dairy for 12 years and Ford Motor Co for 3 years before opening his own contracting business "Bob Ferguson General Contracting" in 1973, retiring in 2010. WW11 Veteran (HMCS Fort Erie and Cape Breton), retired after 47 years service with Northern Electric (Northern Telecom), active in organizations with TelecomPioneers of Canada and in establishing the Oakville Place Mall Walkers Ass'n. Lifelong involvement in Anglican Churches (Adult Christian Education) in Montreal (South Shore and West Island), London, Belleville and Oakville. Known by family, friends and colleagues as a man of great integrity, deep faith and great organizational ability, with a heart of generosity and service to others, not to mention his sharp mind, wit and humor, he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all those whose lives he has touched. ANDERSON, Gertrude "Gert" January 30, 1914-December 13, 2017 R. Gertrude "Gert" Anderson, passed away on December 13, 2017 at Fairhaven Care Home, Peterborough, Ontario where she had resided for the past 4 years. Gertrude, born in Emsdale, Ontario on January 30, 1914, spent most of her life in Oakville Ontario, where she and her husband Joseph "Joe" first met while attending Oakville (Trafalgar) High School. Gertrude was proud to say that she was raised on a farm and attended elementary school in Scotia, Ontario, moving to Oakville to attend high school from which she graduated in the early 1930's. Following high school she attended North Bay Normal School intending to be a teacher. "Gert" and Joe married on August 22, 1936 and continued to reside in Oakville for the next 74 years until they moved to a retirement residence in Peterborough in 2010. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Joseph (December 23, 2010), parents William and Rosena Leigh, her brothers Wilfred and Horace "Bud" Leigh, and sister Constance Wood (Leigh). Gertrude is survived by her sister Hilda Isard of Kitchener, her children Leigh (Christine) of Surrey, B.C., Gaye (late Al Greville) of Gravenhurst, James (Penelope) of Peterborough, Donald (Jane) of Peterborough, Constance (Andre Douchane) of Tucson AZ, eleven grandchildren, many great- grand children and one great-great grandchild. Gertrude was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all in her family. She was a long time active member of St. Jude's Anglican Church and for a time St. Aidan's Anglican Church both in Oakville. She volunteered with the Oakville Hospital Auxiliary, the Red Cross, Morden Road Elementary School and various seniors' residences throughout Oakville for many years. Gertrude had a passion for music which brought her great joy until her final hours. Gertrude's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Rubidge Retirement Residence and Fairhaven Care Home for their kindness and care provided to Mom in her final years. In accordance with Gertrude's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gertrude's life will be held later on a date to be announced.
