P age 4-OakvilIe Beaver, Wed., Nov. 4, 1964 Margaret I n Tharnton IN FASHION November' s here -- reminding us that win ter is just around the comer, and Winder adds up to snow, and that eqals skiing. With this in mind, what could be more fitting than news on this seasons Skiwear. Mohairs, fur fabrics, embroidered tapestries, ribbon knits and silk shantung are a few of the new novelty fabrics that have been introduced into ski parkas. These Parkas with their smart t e x tu r e s , and r i ch shades offer a lot from a fashion v i ewpo in t . They are attractive but they are only useful as a second parka. I say second because skiing is your purpose and most o f the ' pretty' parkas are notservicable. Most useful are the smooth nylon or poplin with down types. They have quilt or fiberfill linings and are warm good looking and durable. They are made for skiing with a good variety in color and patterns. They range in price from $10 to $60. Good quality can be ob tained at an interme diary price. For warm w e a th e r skiing, the lightweight ski shirts of nylon that teens have adopted with slacks, are inexpensive colorful and attractive. . . . Skinnier-than-ever is the new look for ski pants. The close neat fit extends from waist to ankle. Stripes have invaded the scene as well. A thin pencil stripe down the side of each leg add to the slimming effect. Bolder yet are tone on tone or con trasting stripes. L e g straps vary from elas tic instep heel cups to detachable stirrups. Try what is best for your own personal comfort. Make allowances for a layer of underwear. Newcomers to the sport could be caught in a sorry position with a broken zipper or split seam on die slopes all because they didn' t try ski pants with whatever they intended to wear. Wool and nylon are the materials that are the determinent factors effecting d u r ab i l i t y , warmth and cost of ski pants. The higher degree of wool c on t en t the better quality the pants, and the warmer. Nylon gives the stretch to the pants and hence the fit. If you don' t wish to go into a complete skiers wardrobe -- you should purchase a pair of ski pants that contain at least 50 percent wool as it will give best wear for the season. Cost fac tors depend again on the percentage of wool and nylon in the material. Don' t expect $25 pants to give die same wear and tear as the $65 pants. You get only what you pay for.________ PERMA CLEAN CENTRE ONE STOP "COIN OPERATED" DRY CLEANING & LAUNDRAMAT ALSO Pressing Service By Attendant At All Times 8-10 LB. DRY CLEANED FOR $2.00. 12 LBS.
