The SSO will host its an­ nual Peace of Minds Yoga fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 24 at St. Thomas Aqui­ nas Secondary School, 124 Droval Dr. The daylong event - running from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. - features clas­ ses with various yoga in­ structors from studios throughout Oakville. Clas­ ses for all skill levels will be available. Also included will be a meditation session, mental health presentations and a talk by an individual with lived experience. They can do so next Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Hal­ ton Regional Centre (1151 Bronte Rd.), where HMC Connections will hold its an­ nual New Year's Around the World in the cafeteria. At least 10 countries and regions will be represented - including Pakistan, India, the Philippines, China, Af­ ghanistan, Romania, Iran, Lithuania, Korea, Latin America, the Balkans and the Middle East - at the event, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Booths will be set up from those countries, while snacks and sweets will be available at those venues. The event is free and open to the public. HMC Connections is a community-based settle­ ment agency that provides programs and services to immigrants and refugees. The Burlington Womens Recreation Soccer League is now taking registrations for its upcoming outdoor season. BWRSL offers outdoor soccer on Sunday nights (open age and 35+) and Tuesday night (30 and over). The season starts in May and runs until late September.
