More than 600 Canadians die from drowning and other water-related injuries every year. For the Canadian Red Cross, prevention is the key to sur vival. Many drownings can be prevent ed if people think safety first. At the Oakville Waterfront Festival, two winners began their summer vaca tions safely by winning a First Aid Kit and eight other lucky winners won a T- shirt from the Canadian Red Cross. Each year, the Red Cross attends the festival to promote water safety. Toy sale for hospice Three children, Laura De'ath, 7, her friend Victoria Duggan, 7, and older brother Joshua Duggan, 10, are selling all of the toys they've outgrown to raise money for Ian Anderson House cancer hospice. They will be holding a charity garage sale on Saturday July 24th at 61 Colonial Cr., from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine. They have already raised $270 from the sale of toys. They chose to donate the money to Ian Anderson House out of a desire to help the community.
