"In May 2013, we re­ quested town staff start the negotiation process to deal with the lease that would expire in July 2015. Staff re­ plied to us they needed to conclude negotiations with the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club and the Oakville Pow­ er Boat Club before ever coming to the table with OYS. So we waited." Perrenoud said negotia­ tions didn't begin until after the lease had expired in De­ cember 2015 and argued town actions have caused additional delays since. Following the mayor's motion some barriers to a future agreement came down with the OYS agree­ ing to sell floating docks it owns to the town for $65,000.
