A kitchen in an Oakville apartment for people with disabilities will be renovat­ ed through funds donated by the Rotary Club of Oak­ ville. The Rotary Club's dona­ tion of $6,100 will go to­ wards replacing kitchen cabinetry, counters, fau­ cets and backsplash, as well as improving accessi­ bility in one unit of the Jean and Howard Caine apart­ ment building in Oakville. March of Dimes Canada's Non-Profit Housing Corpo­ ration's Jean and Howard Caine Apartments are home to 59 people with physical disabilities. Renovations are expec­ ted to begin in April. "We're so grateful to the Rotary Club of Oakville," says March of Dimes Cana­ da's president and CEO An­ dria Spindel. "This money will make someone's kitch­ en more comfortable and more accessible. It's a won­ derful gift." The March of Dimes Canada support 24 of the residents with specially trained independent living services staff who assist with all tasks of daily liv­ ing. Rotary Club president Len Warrington said the club is proud of the 50-year relationship with the March of Dimes Canada. "We were one of the founding sponsors of the Caine Apartments and we're happy to help in the refurbishment of a kitchen to benefit a tenant," says Warrington.
