The last 55 “,he has shed, however, are going to be her last. ‘, She tried a new weight loss pro- gram and she liked it so‘ much, she ught into the company. On Feb. th, she opened Beverly Hills Weight Loss Clinics Oakville loca- ‘rion at Trafalgar Village. y Donnelly is convinced clients ' ill share her success. {V "This is their last stop. They will rever have to try anything else weight loss program) again,” she says emphatically. , The method includes intensive bne-on-one counselling, as well as, a nutritional program. During the first phases of weight loss, clients eat a tasty high protein snack twice it day to boost their energy level. l Donnelly stresses that there is a physician on staff at the company’s head office in Waterloo who reviews potential clients’ medical history which is recorded on the application forms. Certain health ‘risks make some ineligible to join. The program itself was designed by a doctor and can be tailored to the individual. Reaching one’s weight loss goal is only the first step in the program. According to Sandra Ramsay, the clinic’s second certified health counsellor, maintaining the ideal lwerghc in key. , “It’s keeping it off that’s diffi- cult, so we’ll hold their hand as long as they need it,” Ramsay explains. l The program begins with daily visits to the clinic for “hand hold- iing”, measuring and health monitor- 'ing. A weekly vitamin supplement 3 is also provided. After two weeks, visits are ,reduced to three times a week, but if [clients require more individual sup- port, Ramsay and Donnelly will be .there for them. The maintenance program continues for a year and during that time the counselling is available on an “as needed" basis. ‘ Donnelly need only look at her ‘sister-in-law for proof that the pro- gram’s behavior modification and nutrition advice work in the long term. The pair both vowed to pare down after Christmas 1992. Donnelly watched the pounds melt away from her own diet strategy. Finally, her sister-in-law, now 50 pounds lighter, confessed to having a third partner â€" Beverly Hills. l Donnelly didn’t immediately sign up at the same Brampton clinic but i once she did start the program, she l “did really well”. The program begins with the elimination of certain foods and attention to portion size. This is fol- lowed by reintroduction, stabiliza- tion and maintenance. “I feel really, really good. I've got lots of energy,” the clinic owner says. Now Donnelly can channel her enthusiasm and success to others. Motivation is one of the main ele- ments to achieving long-term weight loss, according to the health counsellors. Beverly: Hills Weight Loss Clinics is open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 pm, Saturday from 9 am. to 1 pm. and is closed Sunday. Weekday hours may be expanded to accommodate those who drop in after work, according to Donnelly. ' Potential clients are advised to call for an appointment; however, those who simply arrive at the clinic won’t be turned away. Count on spending an hour at the first session and about 15 minutes for subse- quent visits. Sign-up cost if $88 for 11 weeks. Call 338-7193 for more informa- tion.
