Those trends are a radical departure from the tightlyâ€"conâ€" trolled tailoring of yesterday‘s business and even casual clothes, she notes. Fabrics are softer, falling graceâ€" fully from the body, a mix of heavy and light, knit and woven textures in freeâ€"flowing swirls of soft white, the palest creams, siena browns, and deep sand shades, 4 with a occasional touch of black and ‘celery,‘ this season‘s delicate incarnation of natural green. Subtly shaded ethnic prints and florals break up solid groupings and creâ€" ate visual richness. "Comfort is a lot more chic than it‘s ever been, and the show will reflect that," she notes. "This year‘s fashions are about the ‘total ease‘ look, with soft flarâ€" ing silhouettes and the crochet on extra look. Linens are making a strong comeback." Guitard says natural colors and fibres are hot this year due to a growing concern for and appreciaâ€" tion of the natural environment. That awareness is also reflected in accessories, with belts, jewelry and hair ornaments crafted of wood, gold, silver, cork, and other natural substances. After the fashion show portion, Allana Martin, promotional direcâ€" tor of Monet Canada, will talk about using accessories to pull your look together. Visitors to the show could win one of two, threeâ€" piece sets of Monet jewelry, well known for its clean, classic lines. And those who are fond of the antique look will enjoy learning how to combine timeless classics from Susan Anderson, account executive for the 1928 Jewellery company. Cherry Robinson, marketing manager at Phantom Hosiery, will reveal spring‘s sexy new colors and textures for pantyhose. "Our Satin Silks and normal silks come in shades such as mushâ€" room and pale sage, really tying in with the neutral colors this year." Robinson says that sheer is in for hosiery fashions this season, although Phantom continues to safeguard comfort by incorporating such elements as control tops and Lycra microfibre into the latest styles â€" all manufactured in Canada using highâ€"quality European nylon for durability. The crochet look Guitard menâ€" tions is also a "natural" here, worked into textured hats, handâ€" bags andvests. It has even found its way onto sandals, working well with the popular slingback and ° openâ€"toe designs: Chiffons scarves in twisted and pleated configurations are also strong sellers, notes Nygard International image specialist Martha House, who will be at the show to discuss the latest wardrobâ€" ing trends following the fashion show. Scarves combine well with the newest generation of the busiâ€" ness suit, where shoulder pads have taken a back seat to more formâ€"fitting styles. "Suits for 1994 are a lot softer and less structured, which is great for career women," notes House. "There‘s also lots of layering â€" short over long, long over wide, and the palazzo pant is still hot." House says patternâ€"mixing, norâ€" mally done with caution, is an easy and interesting way to update your look, using a combination of subtly patterned solids in the same color grouping. "Stripes, plaids, and polka dots are being mixed together, as well as flat with nubby, which you can do when they‘re all neutrals." Working up to the face, a repreâ€" sentative from Estée Lauder will present the latest techniques for hair and skin analysis, and introâ€" duce Fruition Triple ReActivating Complex, a new product which contains fruit acids, to "gently reactivate the skin‘s appearance for dramatically improved texture, tone and clarity, and a decrease in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles." Estée Lauder will also be featurâ€" ing its new Compact Disc eye shadows, which come in 80 differâ€" ent shades and fit neatly into the smallest of handbags. Underneath it all, "A Fashion event by Wonder Bra" will showâ€" case newer collections and the latâ€" est Collection Delicate details. The companies represented in the show have contributed an exciting array of prizes, adding further value to the $15 ticket price. Refreshments will be served after the fashion show. In addition, a portion of the proâ€" ceeds will go to support the Halton Women‘s Shelter. "It‘s a great night out for a group of friends,"says House. "We‘re really excited. It‘s going to be a big night out for our cusâ€" tomers," adds Guitard. Tickets for the March 24 event are available at The Bay, Oakville Place, at the Estée Lauder counter, ladies wear department and the Post Office onâ€"the upper level. Call 842â€"4811.
