Area residents interest­ ed in running in the com ­ ing m unicipal election are invited to attend two infor­ mation sessions in April. Oakville residents will cast their vote for mayor, town and regional council­ lors, regional chair and school board trustees on Monday, Oct. 22. On Wednesday, A pril 18, the town is co-hosting 'So you want to run for coun­ cil?' at town hall. This inform ation ses­ sion runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is led by m unici­ pal lawyer Fred Dean. A second session, led by the M inistry o f Municipal Affairs, takes place Friday, April 27 at town hall and will focus on running a mu­ nicipal election campaign, legislation changes, cam ­ paign financing and more. That event runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. "A municipal election is the most significant way that residents can engage with local government to shape their community. The town is committed to providing voters and po­ tential candidates with im­ portant election inform a­ tion throughout the pro­ cess," said Vicki Tytaneck, Oakville's town clerk.
