PLANTING A SEED Sr'OakvHlegreen Conservation Association Nikki Wesley/Metroland Early April flurries didn't stop members of the Oakvillegreen Conservation Association from celebrating the receipt of a 2017 Oakville Trillium Foundation seed grant totalling $75,000, funds earmarked for a new backyard tree planting program, held in collaboration with LEAF (Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests). To mark receipt of the grant, a ceremony was held April 6 in Peggy Morrison and Scott Colbran's backyard. The pair received a sugar maple, which was planted last year. On hand for the celebration, which saw dignitaries mulch the maple sapling, were MPP Kevin Flynn, councillors Tom Adams and Nicholas Hutchins, Mayor Rob Burton, Councillor Dave Gittings, Morrison, Guiliana Casimirri and Karen Brock, Oakvillegreen Conservation Association's executive director and president, respectively.
