December 5, 1952 - April 16, 2018 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Garnet James Michael Maley on Monday, April 16, 2018. He will be missed by his wife Diane and his children Laura and David, his sister Mary Egan and his brother Patrick Maley. A private family funeral was held in Toronto at the HERITAGE FUNERAL CENTRE. The fam ily would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Nathan Wong, Dr. Danny Sapir, Dr. David Alter, Mr. Glen Day, Mr. Stan McLallan, Father Chris Rupert, the nurses and staff at both Milton District Hospital and Oakville Trafalgar Hospital. Garnet was a family doctor for over 31 years in Milton, Ontario. He was a Board Member of the Ontario Medical Association, Chair of the Ontario Student Bursary Foundation and a member of the bilateral Physician Services Committee. He was an instrumental member of Primary Care Reform initiatives at the OMA, including Chair of the Section of Group Practice. Garnet was a founding member and Lead Physician of the Prime Care Family Health Team in Milton, Ontario. Garnet was also an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. Garnet received the OMA Life Membership Award in recognition of his contributions to the OMA and the physicians of Ontario. Garnet's work brought improved health care delivery to millions of Ontarians. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the "Dr. Garnet Maley Fellowship Fund". Funds w ill be directed to the Toronto Rehabilitation Foundation to support the "Garnet Maley Clinical and Research Fellowship in Exercise Medicine and Cardiac Rehabilitation", in Milton Ontario.
