OSLER, Derek Br i t ton July 8, 1933 - April 30, 2018 Derek Britton Osler, died peacefully at Wyndham Manor, Oakville in his 85th year. Predeceased by his loving w ife of 30 years Heather Snowdon Osler (Marshall), and brother Fen. Dad will be remembered and missed by his brother Glynn and sister Pam De lworth and his chi ldren: Jane, Graeme (Dawn) Osler, Brit (Arani) Osler, Geoff (Heather) Marshall, Gin Marshall, and Alison (Brian) Mayes. A loving and engaged grandfather, he w i l l be sore ly missed by his grandchildren: Darragh, Cameron, Jaitham, Cyra, Kate, Tommy, Emily, Wells, and Ben. Born in Toronto in 1933 to Britton and Barbara Osler, Derek was schooled at TCS before sett ing ou t in business where he ended up fo rm in g V a r i -S ta f f , a temporary and permanent placement agency. Derek had a passion for fly­ fishing, duck hunting, golfing (a life member w ith over 60 years playing at the Toronto Golf Club), "Polar Bear swims" while in Metis-sur-Mer, w h e re he spe n t m ore th a n 75 summers on the shores of the lower St. Lawrence River, and as a keen coach w i t h th e N o r th T o ro n to Hockey Association. Through it all, his p r id e was w i t h th e 4 8 th Highlanders where he spent 20 years as an off icer o f the regiment and formed many life long friendships. Post retirement, Derek and Heather enjoyed travelling th roughou t the w o r ld exper ienc ing a va r ie ty o f cultures w i th family, fr iends and colleagues. When in Oakvil le, he spent t ime engaging w ith the Old Oakville Probus Club, fishing at the U p p e r C re d i t T ro u t C lub, and volunteering as a greeter w i th St. Simon's church. The family wish to th a n k Caroline and the s ta f f of Wyndham Manor who cared for Dad with utmost compassion.
