Wednesday, April 21, 1999 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER C5 Junior Coyotes kick off open tryouts Thursday CANA0*','S LARGEST FASHIONfabric distributor The Oakville Coyotes junior roller hockey team, spon sored by Corbetts Sports, will kick off their season at home this year on Sunday, May 2 against Brantford. Many of the stars that made up the nucleus of last year's west division regular season championship team will be back. Any youth who believe they could play at this top level are invited to the team's open tryouts. They get under way this Saturday (April 24) at 2 p.m. (Oakville Arena) and Monday, April 26, 9:30 p.m. (Oakville Arena). The team held an informal skate Monday night with Oakville Blades provincial junior A stars Jeff Wells and Mike Muldoon lacing up the in-line skates. The Junior A Coyotes are an extension of the very suc cessful Halton Roller Hockey 700-member house league program based in Oakville which kicked off this past week. One new wrinkle for the '99 season is a new mascot and logo for the Oakville Coyotes. "We are trying to add even more fun to our game nights, and we feel with the addition of the Coyote mascot, we will accomplish this," said Coyotes G.M. Jay Labelle. He added that any community group or team that would like the Coyote mascot to attend their event should get in touch with him. The team is having a name the Coyotes mascot contest. Help name the mascot and win a super fan season ticket package that includes: two season tickets, game jersey, and an official team hat. Send your entries in to: Oakville Corbetts Sports Coyotes, 248 Mississauga St., Oakville, ON L6L 3A9; or e-mail jay@rollerhockey.net. In the event that the name chosen has multiple entries, one winner will be drawn from the entries with that name. For more info, phone 825-8781.
