Ferrone Fitness made it to league championship The Ferrone Fitness Hornets had a great sea son, finishing in first place in the Oakville Hornets novice division during the regular season. The team was also successful in the playoff round robin, and was slated to meet up with Ancaster Avalanche in the league championship game. The team also participated in the recent Oakville Hornets tournament held here in Oakville, earning a spot in the championship game. While losing to Ancaster, the girls came away silver medalists and proud of their efforts. But their real highlight was improving their hockey skills, having fun and making friends. Hard fought peewee championship in Jordan The Oakville Vikings, sponsored by Bolton Steel, won a hard fought peewee tournament in Jordan in January. The semifinal game was a close 2-1 affair with Richard Sevo and David Jackson scoring. The champi onship was higher scoring but just as tight with the Vikings prevailing 5 -4 . Sensational turn around to season The minor atom red V. Com Wranglers made a sensational turn-around after being on a nine-game winless streak midway through the season. A great effort by the players, in conjunction with a complete revamping o f the positional assignments, saw the team turn the season com pletely around. The team went on an 11-game unbeaten streak, en route to the championship game. Despite being edged out in the final, this was a truly remarkable achievement. The team was led in goal scoring by Ryan Tavares with 21 regular season points while Harrison Hristopoulos led the team in playoff scoring. Goalie Kyle Morrison posted two play off shutouts en route to the championship game. The team also won a house league select tour ney in Toronto over the Christmas Holidays to bring home the Carl Gardener Select trophy. The Kenwood Transportation Gators.
