This is according to Sta- tistics Canada, which lists Halton as having the low- est crime severity index of all Canadian municipali- ties with a population of 100,000 or more, for the 13th straight year. The report, titled Po- lice-Reported Crime Sta- tistics in Canada, 2017, provides a detailed over- view of crime statistics as reported by police servic- es across the country. According to the data, released July 23, Halton Region: . Has maintained its po- sition of having the lowest crime severity index of all Canadian municipalities with a population of 100,000 or more for the 13th straight year; . Had the lowest crime severity index (CSI) when compared with Ontario's "Big 12" police services; . Had the lowest Violent Crime Severity Index when compared to Onta- rio's 'Big 12' police servic- es; . Had the lowest Non- Violent Crime Severity In- dex when compared with Ontario's "Big 12" police services; . It is these partnerships and re- lationships, coupled with our ongoing commitment to our community safety and well-being plan, that will keep Halton at the forefront of policing andforefront of policing andf as a leader in public safety in the years that lay ahead.
