Town council voted Nov. 14, 2016 to pass a bylaw that will increase the num- ber of wards from six to seven for the Oct. 22 mu- nicipal election. The bylaw also autho- rizes the election of one new town councillor and one new regional council- lor to serve this seventh ward, moving the total number of Oakville coun- cillors from 13 to 15. Adrian Paris, Ajay Rosha, Jasvinder Sandhu and Saima Zaidi are run- ning for the Ward 7 town councillor position. Shahrez Daniyal Hayd- er, Amir Henry, Shahab Khan, Nav Nanda and Pa- van Parmar are running for the Ward 7 regionalfor the Ward 7 regionalf councillor position. Ward 7 is bounded byWard 7 is bounded byW Dundas Street to the south, Burlington to the west, Eighth Line to the east and Milton to the north. A $2.2-million renova- tion of Oakville Town Hall's council chamber is currently underway, in part to accommodate the two new councillors. In May 2015, town staff were directed to revisit the ward boundaries to ad- dress the inequities in re- presentation in Oakville.
